Classics Dance Theatre is commited to sharing the magic of dance and educating young children about this art form. Toward that end, the company has initiated the following outreach programs to include children in its performances which will generate excitement and hopefully a life-long appreciation for movement and dance: Invitation to the Dance- This program enables us to educate students on all aspects of the process of performance in a hands-on environment designed to provide children with a “day in the life of a dancer” experience. Participants join us in the theatre for class and rehearsal, take part in backstage workshops, and appear in a public performance with the company. The Invitation the Dance concept reflects our beliefs that the power of art lies in its ability to show students what they can achieve; dance empowers children to work cooperatively and outside their boundaries.   Preludes-             Through the community outreach program we invite non-profit organizations, senior center, and youth-orientated groups to attend the final dress rehearsal before a performance, affording a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse or the production, as well as a chance to interact with the company.   Community Classics-             The mission of the Community Classics program is to expose local children to refined culture through an educational and artistic exploration of classical literature, music, and dance. Students will have a privilege of studying a classical work of literature in the classroom, while directly participating in the meticulous, yet magical process of transforming the work from page to stage.             Each and every student will be given the opportunity to partake in various aspects of the live performance, working hand in hand with a Stamford-based professional performing company. All levels of participation require absolutely no fees, including the viewing of the final production, in-school performance.             By establishing a direct partnership with your school, Classics Dance Theatre aims to highlight the vital role of the relationship between arts and education in the Stamford community.
